Education Worker Council

The Southern Workers Assembly’s Education Workers Council [SWA-EWC] is intent to build power through a deliberate process of finding unity among workers within the education sector.

Paying attention to the way issues and opportunity intersect with community efforts, the SWA-EWC is dedicated to advancing the rights of all education workers throughout the U.S. South.

By focusing on the needs of all educational sector workers, the SWA-EWC, will develop programs and projects that concentrate on building, supporting, and advancing workers’ rights with the clear intention to support efforts for workers building power and advance all workers’ rights as human rights.

The SWA-EWC will seek to achieve these ends by, but not limited to:

  1. Collective and sustained engagement via monthly sessions, where we build practical, strategic, and methodological consensus – collectively building work plans to achieve specific and broader goals.
  2. Develop robust campaigns that speak clearly and directly to the needs of all education workers.
  3. Building comradery and solidarity with workers across all sectors of labor; and
  4. Find continuity with efforts beyond the workplace.

Co-coordinators: Anne Forester, Patrick Korte, and james pope.
