2026-27 Southern Worker Fightback Schools
Our Rights, Our Time, Our Wages, Our Future
Gas, healthcare, housing, food, and bills all keep getting more expensive, all while the rich get richer and the corporations we work for post record profit after record profit. We don’t have predictable schedules or control over our own time to spend with our families and live our lives. AI and automation loom large and threaten our jobs.
Reactionary Southern state governments are racing to turn back the clock and implement racist redistricting plans, to cement their power and deprive Black workers of a voice in government. ICE and Border Patrol continue to terrorize our immigrant coworkers and neighbors.
Big tech billionaires and other giant multinational corporations see the South as a place they can come to get cheap land, cheap electricity, and cheap labor to make big profits on our backs. In fact, compared to other regions of the United States, the South has the highest GDP, yet we also have the highest levels of poverty.
But workers are fighting back! Join workers building power on the job and in their communities from in sectors and states across the South starting in August 2026 and running through early 2027.
At the worker schools, we’ll hear from workers across the state on the frontlines of many of the leading fights of the day, train on how to build workers assemblies and workplace committees, take up strategy to build organizing networks across strategic employers and sectors in the state, and lay out plans for raising workers voice in the midst of the upcoming election and on the road to the May Day 2028 general strike.
