The Triad Workers Assembly stands in solidarity with REI workers in Greensboro and their fight for a union.
Workers at the Greensboro store are set to vote in a labor board election on Friday, January 24. As noted in an announcement by REI Union on social media, workers want to negotiate “consistent hours, living wages, fair pathways to cross training, transfers and full time opportunities, and to uphold true co-op values.”
Coming out of the pandemic, it was laid bare how little bosses and corporations respect retail workers and their needs. Having a union is the way to make these needs heard and push for something better. This is essential for all workers, especially in the South.
Workers are ready to stand up, and we stand with them. We pledge to do everything we can to support these courageous workers.
